Keta-Akatsi Diocese mourns the call to eternity of Msgr. William Techie.

The whole Keta-Akatsi Diocese is filled with sorrow for the lost of a Gentleman, a Priest of God, one of the very fresh Monsignors of the Diocese. With the faithful from all walks of life, Clergy, Monsignors and Bishops, gathered at the Christ the King Cathedral, Akatsi, the Christian burial of our beloved brother and Prince of the Church is held.

In his homliy, the Bishop, Most Rev. Gabriel Edoe Kumordji, SVD, expressed his condolences to the biological family and to the family of Keta-Akatsi Diocese for the great lose. He was also thankful to the individuals and groups most especially, Olivia Amuzu for the good care given Msgr. William Techie in his life time.

It is not a simple mourning, but a moment to be mindful of the fact that, we must always be ready.
Let our life and death bear testimony to the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
We rejoice in our suffering knowing that our suffering brings hope,…and our hope will not fail us.

Msgr. William also suffered in life, he has been ill, but never gave up on God. He faced the moment of illness with hope, hope in the Lord.
We must not run away from suffering. Our call is to take up the cross and follow the Lord. This is what we must embrace daily.

Fortitude does not give up easily, but faces life difficult situations squarely.
The man we celebrate today, Msgr. William Techie did not allow difficult life situations to beat him up, nor break him down, he rather faced them with a smile and humor.
He is the man who maintains friendship. He is a gentleman. He is always ready to work despite his health challenges. He is a man of music. Msgr. William has worked in many places of the Keta-Ho Diocese, and also the Keta-Akatsi Diocese in various capacities. He is more than humble, to the extent of going to the Bishop to make his Assistant Coordinator of Socio-Economic Development Office to be the Coordinator and he will rather be the Assistant. This is worth emulating. Msgr. William Techie did not allow sickness to be an excuse to anything he had to do. He was stronger and hopeful. He really offered his all.
Let us continue to pray for ourselves and the peaceful repose of his soul.
What saddens our hearts most is the fact that he was made a Monsignor only this year, 22nd June. We all hope he would stay with us a bit longer to enjoy the ‘red hat’ (buretta)

Tributes to his life all testify to his humility and humor. His gentility cannot be over emphasized. God Rest the Soul of a Gentleman, a Prince of the Church, Msgr. William Techie. Eternal life grant unto him Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the soul of all our departed brothers and sisters rest in peace. Amen.
R. I. P. Msgr. William Techie
