Diaconate and Priestly Ordinations, KAD 2024.

Dec

Today, the Keta-Akatsi Diocese ordains Rev. Augustine Mawulolo Atsu AWUDI Mccj, as Priest for the Comboni Missionary, Mr. Elikem AKAKPO as Deacon for the Keta-Akatsi Diocese, and Mr. Constantine Codjo DANGNINOU as Deacon for the Comboni Missionary.

Celebrating the Jubilee Year 2025, as declared by the Holy Father, Pope Francis, the Jubilee Door has been opened by the Pope on 24th December in Rome and today, the Bishop, Most Rev. Gabriel Edoe Kumordji, SVD of the Keta-Akatsi Diocese opens the Jubilee Year Door at the Christ the King Cathedral where the Ordination Rites are being held.

Entering through the Jubilee Door also encourages us that our hope does not fail us, as the theme of the Jubilee purports. It is a moment to seek forgiveness, therefore Priests are encouraged to prepare their homlies on the theme of hope to assure the faithful of the hopeless situations they find themselves in. Let them find the hope the Lord has promised us, the Bishop added. As a Church, we also make pilgrimages-places of sacrifice, which are the fundamental elements of the Jubilee Year; it is a moment of serious and committed prayer, and must be done with love, if possible see the sweat of your sin running out of your body.
We all have hope for one thing or the other, may your hope never fail you. Amen.

Today is the Feast of the Holy Innocents. It is a very significant day that innocent children who never saw Jesus, they could not speak, but were killed for the sake of a christ.
Ordaining a Priest and Deacons today means a lot. Your ordination today means that your apostolat can lead to death, yet continue to witness to Christ in all difficult situations, the Bishop admonished the ordinandis.

Herod was simply afraid of another king apart from him. His arrogance led to the murder of innocent children. Same arrogance can influence and compromise your ministry as Priests and Deacons. Watch and guard against it. Rather work as brothers and collaborators, and not envy one another.

When we compete with one another as ministers of the Word and Sacraments, we kill our faithful innocently.
Ordaining these brothers to various ministries today, they are encouraged to be true agents of hope to those they minister to.

Perform works of mercy in your ministry that all who experience you may feel touched by God.
Your first ministry as preachers of the Gospel must be held in high esteem. Do not undermine this ministry. Be committed to it. Hold the mystery of faith with clear conscience. Seek clarification of the things you do not understand. Educate yourselves on what the Church teaches. Model your lives on what you preach.

When you do all these well, you can hear the Lord speak to you in the words: ‘welldone, good and faithful steward, enter into the kingdom prepared for you!’. Amen.

At about 11:12am, after the Litany and laying on of hands, the Consecratory for the Deacons were concluded making the ordained. In same vain, at about 11:27am the Priest was also ordained.

Congratulations to Rev. Fr. Augustine Mawulolo Atsu AWUDI, Mccj, Rev. Constantine Codjo Dangninou, Mccj and Rev. Elikem AKAKPO. The journey has not been easy but God has brought you this far by grace. Best wishes in your respective ministries.
